Wednesday Overnights: Another Win for NBC Thanks to ‘AGT’

Ratings Breakdown:
NBC led the midweek overnight troops thanks to the live one-hour “America’s Got Talent” results show. “AGT” topped the night with ease at a 5.9 rating/11 share in the household overnights, which was 74 percent above competing “Big Brother” on CBS (#2: 3.2/ 6). Both veteran summer franchises, however, were down from the year-ago evening – “AGT” by 8 percent and “Big Brother” by 16 percent.

With ample lead-in support, NBC’s freshman singing competition “Songland” at 9 p.m. won the hour with a 2.8/ 5. But that was 70 percent below the 8:30 p.m. portion of “AGT” (6.1/11) and may not be worthy of a second season.

On Fox, “BH90210” continues to deteriorate, last night with a 1.7/ 3 in households at 9 p.m. Sorry “Beverly Hills, 90210” fans…I just don’t see a second season of this reboot. Lead-in “Masterchef” scored a third-place 2.8/ 5 in the 8 p.m. hour, which was 65 percent above “BH90210.”

Elsewhere, “Hollywood Game Night” on NBC (#2: 1.7/ 3 at 10 p.m.) remains nothing more than time period filler. “Hypnotize Me” on The CW scored a 0.4/ 1 (#5) at 9 p.m., which was two-tenths of a rating point below lead-in crime drama “Bulletproof” (#5: 0.6/ 1 at 8 p.m.). And the remainder of the evening were repeat telecasts as follows:
