MTV’s cross-platform celebration, the MTV Movie and TV Awards for 2022 took place on Sunday, June 5.
HBO’s teen drama “Euphoria” was the night’s biggest winner, taking home four Golden Popcorn buckets, including Best Show and Best Performance in a Show to its lead star Zendaya.
Marvel Studios were also well represented among the award winners: two wins apiece for feature film “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the Disney+ series “Loki”.
For reality TV, the Netflix unscripted real estate series “Selling Sunset” received two awards: for Best Docu-Reality Show and for Best Reality Star to Chrishell Stause.
Three honorary awards were also handed out. Jack Black earned the Comedic Genius Award; Jennifer Lopez was given the MTV Generation Award (Lopez also took home the award for Best Song from her recent film “Marry Me”); and, Bethenny Frankel was honored with the MTV Reality Royalty Lifetime Achievement.
The ceremony, in its 30th annual edition, hailed from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. The scripted portion was hosted by actress Vanessa Hudgens; its unscripted portion emceed by Tayshia Adams (“The Bachelorette”).
