JUDGE JUDY and HOT BENCH have been renewed in 95 percent of the country through the 2025-26 season, it was announced by Greg Guenther, SVP of domestic sales for CBS Media Ventures.

“JUDGE JUDY and HOT BENCH are a powerful one-two punch for stations,” Guenther said in a statement. “Together, these two shows account for 67% of all minutes watched in the nationally syndicated court genre. Our station clients can’t get enough of this premium product and were eager to keep both shows in their daytime lineups.”

HOT BENCH

HOT BENCH was reupped for two more years by CBS Stations in major markets, as well as stations owned by Sinclair, Nexstar, Tegna, Scripps, FOX Stations, Gray and Weigel.

HOT BENCH is the only court show to grow year over year this season, increasing +14% in total viewers and +13% among the key women 25-54 demographic.” – Greg Guenther

AIM Tell-A-Vision® Group (AIM TV), producers of the veetan travel show, “Raw Travel,” announced that the first part of their four-part docuseries, “My Summer in Ukraine,” premieres April 27-28 with Chapter One: “Silence is Death.” Based on Raw Travel producer and host Robert G. Rose’s travels in Ukraine in the summer of 2023, the film showcases the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians in a war zone. Rose also profiles various humanitarians, filmmakers, and soldiers, highlighting their courage and commitment. 

Chapter Two: “Answering the Call,” premieres May 4-5, followed by Chapter Three: “I Made a Promise,” on May 11-12, and the finale, Chapter Four: “Fight for Peace,” will hit broadcast TV on May 18-19.

Rose’s journey was deeply personal and emotionally charged, taking him to L’viv, Kyiv, Bucha, Hostomel, Irpin, Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and various villages. He weaves in other personal experiences, such as advocating for aid to Ukraine in Washington, D.C., and an American friend volunteering to fight in Ukraine, to create a compelling narrative that resonates.

“It’s an honor to be part of Ukraine’s fight for freedom and survival,” said Robert Rose in a statement. “However, it’s an honor I would gladly forego if it meant Ukrainians didn’t have to suffer through this horrific, illegal, and unjust attack on their sovereignty and very existence. It feels like my life purposely led me here, so I’m committed to Ukraine until victory and beyond.”

By the end of the four-week broadcasts, viewers in 185 U.S. cities representing 97 percent of US TV homes will be able to view “My Summer in Ukraine,” with a projected tune-in audience of between 3.5 and 4.5 million viewers for the four weekends. 

“My Summer in Ukraine” is not just a story of tragedy but also a testament to the resilience and hope of the Ukrainian people. Rose captures heartwarming scenes at orphanages and humanitarian centers and a particularly moving moment when Raw Travel videographer Anastasia Zui reconnects with her father after he’d spent many weeks fighting in Bakhmut. These moments of joy and resilience will leave the audience optimistic and hopeful. 

The producers have also created a platform for action with RawTravelUkraine.com which features curated content, tips, and ways to help Ukraine while learning crucial history and facts. By engaging with this platform, the audience can support Ukraine’s journey to recovery.

ABC News announced today that “Tamron Hall,” the nationally syndicated daytime talk show, is renewed for a sixth season (2024-2025) with ABC Owned Television Stations and leading broadcast groups, including Hearst, Scripps, Nexstar, Tegna, Gray and AMG. The ABC Owned Stations carrying “Tamron Hall” are WABC-TV/New York, KABC-TV/Los Angeles, WLS-TV/Chicago, WPVI-TV/Philadelphia, KGO-TV San Francisco, KTRK-TV/Houston, WTVD-TV/Raleigh-Durham and KFSN-TV/Fresno.

Sony Pictures Television Advertiser Sales announced offerings for the 2024 Upfronts, which will continue to include options in live viewing, integrations, and syndicated programming along with diginet Great Entertainment Television (get.) 

Game Show Network has greenlit three new strip series, BEAT THE BRIDGE, based on the UK format from STV Studios, to be hosted by Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital”, “Home & Family”) and revived classic TIC TAC DOUGH hosted by the incomparable Brooke Burns (“Master Minds”, “The Chase”).  Both shows are scheduled to air this summer. Recently announced FLIP SIDE, hosted by Jaleel White (“Family Matters”), is the new syndicated game show from Game Show Enterprises Studios for CBS Media Ventures premiering in syndication and concurrently on Game Show Network this fall.

Rounding out the schedule are the recently premiered comedic game show format BLANK SLATE (January 2024), hosted by Mario Lopez (“Access Hollywood”), and SPLIT SECOND with new episodes in April, hosted by John Michael Higgins (“America Says”, “Pitch Perfect”). Also returning with new episodes in April is SWITCH, the trivia show where contestants take positions behind large numbers from 1 to 5, hosted by actor Jeff Hephner (“Chicago Med”, “Chicago Fire”).

Additional offerings include short-form ad options in JEOPARDY! and WHEEL OF FORTUNE, as well as commercial environments in the SPT syndicated programming portfolio comprised of S.W.A.T., the off-network drama airing on network television for seven seasons, laugh-along comedies such as SEINFELD and THE GOLDBERGS as well as the return of courtroom entertainment programming.

New Series

Game Show Network will debut three new original series this year: BEAT THE BRIDGE premiering in June, TIC TAC DOUGH premiering in August and FLIP SIDE premiering in September.

Hosted by Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital”, “Home & Family”) and based on the hit BBC show “Bridge Of Lies” and format created by STV Studios, BEAT THE BRIDGE features an enormous interactive bridge that dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. Each step forward puts money in the team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. However, the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires in an exciting end game. BEAT THE BRIDGE is a Game Show Enterprises Studios production with Ed Egan as executive producer and Sabrina Hybel Snow as co-executive producer. Josephine Brassey, Gary Chippington and David Mortimer serve as executive producers for STV Studios.

TIC TAC DOUGH is an update of NBCUniversal’s classic format originally created by Robert Noah. Host Brooke Burns (“Master Minds”, “The Chase”) guides two contestants as they compete to place three of their marks in a row on the giant trivia board. Both players must try to avoid the dragon, who lurks to steal their turns and stands in their path to victory. After three rounds, the winning player moves on to face the dragon in the grand prize round, where the dragon moves strategically on the board to block the player’s ability to make three-in-a-row and take home $10,000. TIC TAC DOUGH is a Game Show Enterprises Studios production with Rane Laymance as executive producer and Sabrina Hybel Snow as co-executive producer.  Village Roadshow Television (VRTV) serves as the studio with Harry Friedman, NBC’s Brenda Milinkovic and VRTV’s Shannon Perry executive producing.

Hosted by Jaleel White (“Family Matters”), FLIP SIDE is a fresh take on a traditional game show and based on the format created by Keller Noll.  The easy to play-along game show pits two teams of players against each other to test them on how they think two different groups of people feel about the same issue. The teams compete for a shot at $10,000 by guessing the top answers based on anonymous surveys – which can be provocative, surprising, and laugh-out-loud funny! FLIP SIDE is a Game Show Enterprises Studios production for CBS Media Ventures with Jay James, Corin Nelson and Rich Sirop serving as executive producers.  T. Jones serves as co-executive producer. Cleve Keller and Dave Noll (Keller/Noll) and Ken Ross serve as executive producers.

JEOPARDY!, America’s Favorite Quiz Show™ celebrating its 60th birthday in 2024, is the top-rated quiz show on television, and has received numerous awards and honors. WHEEL OF FORTUNE, with new host Ryan Seacrest starting this fall, is trademarked as America’s Game™. Both iconic shows are produced by Sony Pictures Television, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company. They are distributed domestically by CBS Media Ventures and internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution, both units of Paramount.

NBCUniversal Syndication Studios has renewed the daily first-run talk show “Karamo,” hosted by Karamo Brown, for its third season in national syndication. Described as a conflict-based talk show, “Karamo” addresses a wide range of topics, including infidelity, DNA mystery, parenting and complex family dynamics. “Karamo” also features a popular segment called “Unlock the Phone” where guests have the opportunity for Karamo’s investigative team to uncover their partners’ cell phone history for full transparency.    

“With his direct no-nonsense approach, Karamo has established himself as one of daytime television’s most authentic and innovative hosts,” said Tracie Wilson, Executive Vice President, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios & E! NBCUniversal Syndication Studios has renewed “The Steve Wilkos Show” for an 18th season in national syndication. Launched on September 10, 2007, the confrontational talker is a spin-off from the “Steve to the Rescue” segments on “Jerry Springer.”

“The Steve Wilkos Show” tackles issues such as relationship conflicts, family disputes, social issues and true crime. The show is hosted by Steve Wilkos, the straightforward, tough-talking former Chicago police officer and United States Marine.    

“For 17 seasons, Steve Wilkos has not only evolved as a host, but also has the unique ability to relate to people from all walks of life,” Tracie Wilson, Executive Vice President, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios & E! News said in a statement. “His willingness to get to the heart of the matter has kept ‘The Steve Wilkos Show’ at the forefront and will continue to do so for the show’s 18th season. 

“I also want to congratulate Steve on a milestone 30 years in television. Television Syndication Company (TVS) has announced that monthly special series “Everyday Heroes” will be moving to a half-hour weekly format next fall.  “Everyday Heroes” features veterans, first responders, teachers, healthcare workers, community leaders, and more. Each week, they take viewers on an emotional journey, capturing the collective focus of national events, holidays and observances. The series honors individuals and groups whose stories are the foundation of what it is to be American.

“Everyday Heroes has resonated with stations and viewers alike who are looking for more positive, uplifting stories” said Cassie Yde, President of The Television Syndication Company in a statement.

Other TVS offerings for half hour weeklies include “Small Town Big Deal” hosted by Jann Carl and Rodney Miller, which returns for season 10; “HouseCalls, which is back for season 26 with new host, Brian Kelsey, to continue Ron Hazelton’s legacy; and “RaceWeek, “Sports Stars of Tomorrow” (offered as both E/I and sports adjacency), “Laura McKenzie’s Traveler, “Street Magic” and “Great Big World” (E/I).

Offerings to Florida markets only include “What’s Next!” (season 4), the freshman “Power & Politics, and new weekly series “Flip My Florida Yard.” In addition, “Pets Welcome Here” will have a half-hour summer special, and “Small Town Big Deal’s Christmas Across America” returns for its 7th year with another hour special for the holidays.

“True Crime News,” a new daily syndicated crime show from Warner Bros. Television Group, will premiere nationally this September on select FOX-owned stations. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures. “True Crime News” will be hosted by veteran journalist and eight-time Emmy winner Ana Garcia, who currently serves as host of “True Crime Daily: The Podcast” produced by Telepictures. Ana is also a contributor to “20/20.”

Nationally syndicated, “True Crime News” will deliver 52 weeks of original programming with breaking crime news, all the cases making headlines, and the latest updates on evolving crime stories, tapping into Warner Bros. Discovery’s extensive vault of crime footage. 

The announcement was made today by Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group; David Decker, President of Content Sales, Warner Bros. Discovery; and Frank Cicha, Executive Vice President of Programming for Fox Television Stations.

Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group, said, “Audiences continue to be fascinated by true crime stories, mysteries, and investigations, and the talented team at Telepictures has developed a distinctive series that is sure to captivate. We’re thrilled to have Emmy winner and expert crime reporter Ana Garcia as host, and we can’t wait for viewers to see ‘True Crime News’ this fall.”

David Decker, President of Content Sales, Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “We are proud to expand Warner Bros. Discovery’s footprint in syndicated television, and to do it with our longstanding station partners and with a show that truly fits with today’s daytime format needs.”

Frank Cicha, Executive Vice President of Programming for Fox Television Stations, added: “This project works on two fronts. First, it speaks to our audience, and secondly, it creatively delivers a first run program despite syndication’s harsh economic realities.”

“True Crime News” sets out to advance cases, with a true crime tip line and call to action in every show.  It will also work closely with local newsrooms to integrate local crime cases and allow local newsrooms to roll in a crime story in their market.

Emmy nominated syndicated daytime talker “The Jennifer Hudson Show” has been renewed for a third season by the Fox Television Stations and Hearst Television. Jennifer Hudson is now the youngest woman and the second African-American woman (following Whoopi Goldberg) to receive all four of the major American entertainment awards (commonly known as “EGOT”): Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. She is the fifth female (after Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, and Goldberg) to join the elite club. And, historically, Hudson is only the 17th person to reach EGOT status. Now, of course, establishing herself as a long-term occupant in first-run syndication.

As a result of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” renewal, distributor Debmar-Mercury has decided not to move forward at present on its proposed hour of daytime talk with Ken Jeong. “We know Ken is an A+ talent deserving of an A+ line-up, and market conditions did not afford us an opportunity at this time. We will monitor the market for future Ken opportunities,” said a spokesman for Debmar-Mercury in a statement.

The logline: “Power & Politics” gives viewers today’s news the way it used to be – straight down the middle so viewers can make up their own minds on all the issues affecting the Sunshine State.

Hosted by news veteran Frank Cipolla and the Emmy Award-winning political psychologist, Dr. Bart Rossi, the series has already been cleared in 6 of the 10 Florida markets.
